Summer 2026 Working Connections Texas Recap
Last week, NITIC welcomed 51 instructors and administrators from 34 colleges in 15 states and American Samoa to Summer 2026 Working Connections II at Collin College’s Technical Campus in Allen, Texas. The weeklong professional development event gave IT educators the opportunity to build new skills, exchange ideas, and connect with colleagues from across the country.
Participants spent five days immersed in one of three specialized tracks: AI productivity tools, AWS cloud and AI foundations, or the BILT Model for employer engagement and curriculum alignment. The hands-on format allowed attendees to explore their chosen topic in depth while learning practical strategies they can bring back to their institutions.
This year’s event also welcomed 14 first-time attendees, representing 27% of the participants. A key expectation of Working Connections is that attendees apply what they learn within the next year, helping strengthen programs and improve student outcomes.
In addition to classroom learning, participants had plenty of opportunities to network. Martlet Solutions hosted an evening mixer, and many attendees continued a favorite Working Connections tradition by gathering for live-band karaoke at a local restaurant.
As the week came to a close, educators left with new ideas, new connections, and plans to implement what they learned in their classrooms and colleges over the coming months.
