NITIC to Host In‑Person Working Connections Track on Launching Local BILTs this July

NITIC will offer a new opportunity this summer for colleges looking to strengthen employer engagement: an in‑person Working Connections track focused on helping institutions launch and sustain their own Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT) programs.

As a cornerstone of the NITIC grant, the BILT model reimagines employer engagement by placing business and industry in a true co‑leadership role with educators. This structure not only deepens industry relationships beyond what traditional advisory councils typically achieve, but also provides a clear, repeatable method for gathering and prioritizing the job skills your program teaches.

New Track: “The BILT Model – Strengthen Employer Engagement and Align Curriculum to Industry Needs”

Dates: July 13–17, 2026
Location: North Texas – Collin College (Allen, TX) (in‑person)

Whether you’ve expressed interest in starting a BILT or are simply exploring ways to strengthen employer engagement, this hands‑on Working Connections track will walk you step‑by‑step through implementing and sustaining a BILT at your institution.

Attendees will:

  • Examine the core components of the BILT model
  • Practice strategies for curriculum alignment using industry‑driven job skills
  • Develop tailored next‑step action plans for their own program
  • Gain access to NITIC “office hours” throughout the year to troubleshoot challenges
  • Receive support from NITIC to host their first job skills prioritization meeting before July 2027

This track presents a unique opportunity for ITIN members to gain practical guidance, tools, and ongoing support for building deeper, more productive employer partnerships.
