NSF ATE PI Conference 2024 Wrap Up: Highlighting NITIC’s Participation
The 2024 NSF ATE PI Conference successfully wrapped up last week in Washington, D.C., gathering over 850 ATE grantees and partners from across the U.S. This event provided a valuable opportunity for sharing innovations and fostering collaboration among educators in advanced technological education. NITIC’s leadership team attended, actively raising awareness about the center’s initiatives through presentations and networking events.
NITIC’s new website was featured in the “Unlocking NITIC Tools for IT Program Innovation” Innovation Demo. Project Investigator (PI) Larry McWherter and Assistant Director Stephanie Schuler demonstrated how the platform’s tools and resources support IT programs. “After almost a year of building this website, we’re excited to share it with the ATE community and bring awareness to all our center has to offer,” Schuler noted.
McWherter also joined a panel on “How Artificial Intelligence is Predicted to Affect Multiple Disciplines,” where he discussed the potential impacts of AI on IT education and emphasized the importance of adaptable curriculum design. “My fellow panelists, representing NSF’s national Micro-Nanotechnology and Cybersecurity centers and the national AI consortium, joined me to discuss the transformative potential of AI. We’ve embarked on the initial steps of a significant journey toward fostering cooperation in this critical and groundbreaking field.” McWherter said.
Additionally, NITIC participated in ATE Connects, a hub for networking and collaboration where ATE projects showcase their work. NITIC’s presence sparked new connections and collaboration opportunities.
